UTILITY & GPR SURVEYS

We use the most current technology available to us to find your buried services, working to Standards set by RICS and PAS128.

Utility Mapping

Whether you’re looking to trace a single cable, map drainage or complete a full site service plan, EML (Electromagnetic Location) and GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) can help.  We have the capability to find water, gas, electrics, communication services, fibre optics and drainage and can provide you with the most up to date service record for your site. We are qualified to conduct PAS128 level surveys and work to RICS & TSA utility survey standards. All information obtained onsite will be collected by GPS or TPS and configured to OSGB.

EML

Our surveyors are trained with Radio Detection and Vivax Electromagnetic Locators and metal detectors for locating buried metal covers.

Service location

Using EML and GPR in smaller areas we can clear areas for confidence when digging boreholes, window samples and trial pits.

Subsurface surveying for rebar within concrete structures is undertaken using a Ferro scanner.  Manufactured by Hilti, the system is capable of producing accurate layout information including bar diameters.

GPR Surveys and Processing

Being competent with the use of GPR means we have experience with most IDS based systems: the handheld C-Thru looking for rebar; DS2000 for less complex projects and Stream C/DP for larger areas, working up to towable systems like the Stream UP and HI-PAVE. Whilst IDS is our preferred manufacturer, we also utilise GPR equipment from Kontur Ground Arrays. For IDS systems processing is completed in house through IQ MAPS and delivered through 2D/3D CAD.

Not only do we use GPR to find buried services we are also capable of finding buried tanks and underground voids. (GPR systems are limited by ground conditions, perfect conditions see penetration of 2 meters)

Desktop Survey

When conducting site investigation, it is important for both the client and the survey team to have the most up to date records available for the surveyor onsite as it gives them a clear indication if a service is within the site, reducing time needed onsite. A desktop survey can also help prevent service strikes to anyone breaking ground or conducting their own investigations.
